There’s something incredibly special about a vow renewal the chance to pause, reflect, and celebrate a love story that has already stood the test of time. Recently, we had the honor of hosting Josh and Olga’s heartfelt vow renewal at our chapel, and it was the perfect reminder that meaningful moments don’t have to be complicated to be unforgettable.

One of Josh and Olga’s favorite trips was at Lake Tahoe. They were celebrating 15 years of marriage, so they decided to bring their two girls to share Lake Tahoe and create new memories while celebrating this major milestone. Coming from Texas in December meant that the weather could be questionable and since we have the chapel, we decided to plan the ceremony there. They caught an early flight and arrived in Reno midday.

When they walked into the chapel, there was an immediate sense of calm. The bridal suite offers a place to get ready with ease. The girls were able to hang their dresses (and use the steamer) while Josh got ready in the other room. Meanwhile Daniel Cewinski the photographer, set up for photos.

The space is intentionally designed to feel warm, welcoming, and intimate, perfect for couples who want a private and meaningful ceremony without distractions. It allowed them to be fully present with one another, which is exactly what a vow renewal should be about.
The ceremony itself was relaxed yet deeply emotional. Before arriving at the chapel they drove to Emerald Bay where Josh asked Olga to get “married again” including an updated ring! In front of the girls made it extra special.
By the end of the ceremony, it was clear that this was exactly what they had hoped for: a stress-free, meaningful experience that honored their journey together. No pressure, no overwhelm, just a beautiful reaffirmation of their love. After the ceremony Daniel took family portraits outside in different locations. The day was a chilly day with fog covering the lake but pockets of sun so the chapel offered warmth and comfort.

Here is what Josh said in his review…

My wife and I renewed our vows after 15 years with Christa Deane at Mountain High Chapel, and the entire experience was more magical than our original wedding day (my wife’s exact words). Christa’s chapel is amazing, its quaint, comfortable, and full of charm. From the moment we arrived, she made us and our two daughters feel completely at home. Christa went above and beyond in every way. She helped us with photographers, dining recommendations, and local sights, making the whole day effortless. Making the experience effortless took every bit of stress and anxiety my wife had away trying to plan the event from Texas. She offered numerous ceremony styles and locations and then personalized everything to fit exactly what my wife envisioned bringing our vision to life better than we ever imagined. Christa wrote a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony that left even our teenage daughter in tears and even provided keepsakes so we could treasure the memories forever. No request was too big or too small; Christa truly bent over backward to make the day special. We left feeling like we had just spent time with an old friend. If you’re considering a vow renewal or wedding, I promise you will not be disappointed. 15/10 would recommend to anyone!”

Vow renewals don’t have to be elaborate to be powerful. Sometimes, the most memorable experiences come from simplicity, intention, and the right setting. That’s what we strive to provide—a place where couples can celebrate their story in a way that feels natural, easy, and truly special.

If you’re considering a vow renewal in Lake Tahoe and want something that feels effortless yet deeply meaningful, our chapel is here to make that experience exactly what you envision.
